Conflict resolution diplomacy think tank

6th April 2021

We are announcing today the formation of our latest Think Tank which will be chaired by Billy McKay. It will focus on how this growing field of activity can best prevent conflict escalation.

It will:

  • take soundings from people of influence
  • arrange speakers / panel discussions (possibly from those contacts)
  • notify members of online and real life events
  • hold meetings of the think tank/committee
  • reach out to potential new members through networking

William (Billy) McKay has been an EAG member for some twenty years, being a solicitor and a committee member on The Law Society’s influential Employment Law Committee. Billy has headed up an employment and civil litigation team at a law firm in Surrey and is now a consultant solicitor with a law firm in London. He is also an experienced legal trainer, being a tutor at the University of Law and former director of the Legal Practice Course at London Metropolitan University. Billy is co-author of ‘Legal English’, second edition (McKay, Charlton & Barsoum), published by Pearson Education (Longman).

He has undertaken mediation training at Pepperdine University in California and worked for several months in a trial lawyer’s office in California, USA, at which time he developed his interest in dispute resolution. Several years ago Billy delivered a dispute resolution training course in Beirut, Lebanon to legal and other professional and NGO personnel.
